Our services

AAC Evaluations

Functional, Strength-Based, Neurodiversity-Affirming

Our AAC user's journey begins with a comprehensive evaluation tailored to the individual's unique needs and abilities. Evaluations conducted by AAC & Me, LLC clinicians adhere to best practices that embrace the principles of neurodiversity, ensuring an individualized approach that recognizes and respects the diverse ways individuals communicate and express themselves. Evaluations are completed via a strength-based lens, focusing on what a client can do, as opposed to what they cannot. We prioritize a holistic understanding of each client's communication profile, considering factors such as cognitive skills, motor abilities, and social communication dynamics in order to recommend the most appropriate and functional augmentative communication modalities to best support each individual.

AAC Trainings

Educating, Review, Building Knowledge

Once the evaluation has been completed and reviewed with the student's team, an AAC training may be requested to review to recommendations of the report with the student, their professional team, and their family. Trainings are a great way to introduce those working with the AAC user how to customize their language system, how to model language via the designated communication device, and to overall increase confidence and competencies when communicating via AAC. Our goal after an AAC training is to ensure that the recommendations from the evaluation translate into meaningful, day-to-day communication experiences for the AAC user, as well as all those involved in the user's AAC journey.

AAC Consultations

Problem-Solving, Fine-Tuning Strategies, Guidance

After the AAC training was conducted following the student's evaluation, consultations are encouraged to be pursued in order for the AAC specialist to play an active role in the student's AAC journey. These ongoing consultations offer the AAC user and their team the chance to refine implementation and optimize device usage as the student progresses through academic and social milestones. This ongoing support ensures that the AAC system remains a dynamic and effective tool that grows with the student, promoting long-term success and positive communication experiences.

Professional Development Workshops

Continuing Education, Building Confidence, Fostering Inclusivity

The clinicians at AAC & Me, LLC are passionate about educating others on AAC to support communication confidence and promote inclusivity across communities. Professional development days provide an excellent chance for parents, professionals, and administrators in your district to familiarize themselves with the intricacies of AAC. Our training workshops serve as a valuable platform for us to persist in advocating for the integration of AAC services in educational and community settings, fostering accessibility and inclusivity.
